Simple Cremation Service

Simple cremation or more commonly known as “direct cremation” or “immediate cremation” is the most basic of all cremation. The cremation is performed soon after death, without a viewing, visitation, or funeral service of any kind.

Our Simple Oregon Cremation includes the following:

  • Basic access to services such as funeral director, supportive staff, and overhead.
  • Transportation of the deceased to our funeral home (one attendant, within a regular service area, additional charges apply for more than one attendant).
  • Refrigeration care for up to 7 days.
  • Our cremation service includes permitting.
  • Filing the death certificate within the state of Oregon.
  • Forwarding death certificate to the doctor for signature.

The Advantages of Simple Cremation Service

The family is often left with many decisions to make when a loved one dies. One of those decisions is what type of cremation service to choose. While there are many options available, simple cremation is often the best choice for families. Here are some of the advantages of simple cremation:

It is affordable

Simple cremation is the cheapest form of cremation, this is because there are no extras, such as a memorial service or celebration of life. The body is cremated quickly and the ashes are given to the family.

How much does Oregon cremation cost?

In Oregon, the average cost of a simple cremation ranges from about $700 to over $3,000. This has little to do with the actual “cost of cremation,” but rather with how much the Funeral Service Establishment or Cremation Provider “marks up” their services. Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Service offers our simple cremation for only $793.

It is less stressful

Simple cremation takes away some of the stress that comes with planning a funeral service. There is no need to worry about what type of casket to choose  or what type of memorial service to have.

You can still have a memorial service

Just because you choose simple cremation, doesn’t mean you can’t still have a memorial service. You can have a memorial service before or after the cremation process. This gives you the flexibility to plan a service that is convenient for everyone involved.

Simple cremation is more time-efficient

Funeral arrangements may overwhelm your family. This is particularly difficult when you’re dealing with the (perhaps abrupt) death of a loved one.  With simple cremation, it is easy, straightforward, and usually quicker than a traditional funeral service. This means that your family will have more time to grieve and process the death of your loved one.

Portability of the ashes

Once the cremation process is complete, you will be left with your loved one’s ashes. These can be kept in a cremation urn, scattered, or buried. You can even take them with you if you move! This is not always possible with a traditional burial service.

A more environmentally friendly approach than burial

Simple cremation uses fewer resources than a traditional burial service. It also produces far fewer emissions than a traditional burial. There is no embalming involved which uses harmful chemicals that may seep into the earth after burial. If you are looking for a more environmentally friendly way to deal with the death of your loved one, simple cremation is a great option.

Free up spaces in a cemetery

By opting for simple cremation, you are freeing up space in a cemetery. This is especially important if the cemetery is located in an urban area where land is scarce.

Acceptable in many religious faiths

Many religious groups nowadays have accepted simple cremation as an alternative to traditional burial. This means that if you are of a certain faith, you can still be cremated without having to worry about offending your religion.

Your personal preference

You may decide that simple cremation is a good decision merely because you will have more influence over your final disposition. It is becoming increasingly popular as a personal choice. Rather than following traditions for the sake of following them.

What kinds of families choose simple cremation and why?

The truth is that simple cremation is chosen by people from all walks of life for a multitude of reasons. Simple cremation appeals to many people because of its simplicity and flexibility. There will be no big ceremony with a parade through town involving funeral home personnel, church personnel, escorts, musicians, and pallbearers, among other things. Another important issue is timing. Cremation can free up time to prepare a meaningful tribute to a loved one’s life and to negotiate dates that are convenient for a larger group of people, all while letting everyone make the required travel arrangements.

Simple cremation is frequently employed by families who want their loved one’s ultimate remains transported to another state or even another nation. Transporting a little urn is far less expensive than transporting a huge casket. Religious convictions, environmental concerns, space availability at your preferred cemetery, and the desire to have your loved one close at all times are all valid reasons. Finally, there are substantial economical advantages to simple cremation. Direct cremation is typically 20-50 percent less expensive than a traditional funeral. Because permanent memorial and burial expenditures are not required, cremation is often more economical.
