Thresa Athey

Thresa Jean Athey passed away the morning of December 24, 2024, after battling a rare form of cancer. 

Her remarkable life was a testament to her strength and resilience. Born on June 7, 1957, in Springfield, Oregon, Thresa spent most of her life in the Willamette Valley, fostering deep connections with her family and community. 

Her academic journey took her to Willamette High School and later to Harrisburg High School, where she graduated in 1975. Thresa's 30-year career in the food service department of Bethel School District was marked by her compassion, kindness, and dedication, where she was renamed Mama T. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Mike Athey; children, Darci Athey, Tanna and Eric Athey; daughters-in-law Sara Athey and Anne Holt; siblings Valerie Stutzman and Todd Haag; grandchildren Paisley, Zandyn and Juniper. 

Thresa's generosity and commitment to helping others are an inspiration to all who knew her. Her legacy continues to live on through the countless lives she touched. Little-known facts about Thresa reveal her adventurous spirit and her love for gardening, flowers, and the Oregon Ducks. Her devotion to her family was unwavering, and her memory will continue to be a blessing to all who knew her.

A celebration of Thresa’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 8th, at Harrisburg Christian Church. Childcare will be provided.
