Sylvia Ruth Barnett -Lavender passed away at 82 on Monday May 13, 2024 doing one of her favorite things, visiting the desert with the love of her life, Norman Lavender. Sylvia was born on March 29th, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Clabern Columbus Barnett and Virginia Genevieve Plouch -Barnett.
In 1961 Sylvia graduated from Rocky Ford High School in Colorado. She married Norman Dale Lavender on June 22, 1961 and they moved to Springfield, Oregon in 1963. They built a wonderful life together and raised four children.
Sylvia worked at Chase Gardens and Motel 6 but most of all she was a mother and homemaker. She was the best mother in the world to her 4 children, and also a mother to many of their friends, family and the entire clan of neighborhood kids! She opened her home and heart to anyone who needed it.
Sylvia was an amazing grandma to her 9 grandchildren; Westley, Brehauna, Kaila, Jacob, Connor, Alex, Chantz & Hayley. She was a great-grandmother to Kendall, Destiny, Araya, Breyden, Athena, Klaus, Lilyanah, Bellamae, Kailee, Braxton & Kimber.
Sylvia was a loving, kind person who would do anything to help anyone. She loved to travel and visit the ocean, desert, and anywhere she could see wildlife. She will be remembered by her wonderful smirky smile, her generosity, but most of all for her loving heart.
Sylvia is survived by her; husband Norman Lavender, brother Fred Barnett, sister Sandy Stinnett, her four children; Rick Lavender, Lonnie Lavender, Jeanie Rosenburg and Brenda Johnson, her 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and all of her extended family and friends.
Services will be on Wednesday May 29th, 2024 at Buell Chapel at 320 6th St, Springfield, OR
11am Family Viewing / Noon Public Funeral Service
She will be laid to rest at Springfield Memorial Gardens 7305 Main St, Springfield
