Shirley Ann Parsons (Jeske)'s Story 1933 - 2025

Shirley Ann Parsons (née Jeske), 91, Shirley Parsons passed away peacefully in hospice careat River Grove Memory Care in Eugene, Oregon on January 24, 2025. She was born on April 25, 1933, in Grass Valley, California to Clarence "Hal" and Maude Jeske in Eugene.

Shirley attended Eugene schools, where she formed lifelong friendships, including with Clark Hollis, whom she met in middle school in 1946. She later married her high school sweetheart,M. Dean Parsons, in 1952.

A devoted mother and friend, Shirley is survived by her sons, Michael D. Parsons of Hagerman, Idaho, and Mitch D. Parsons of Loveland, Colorado. She is survived by her sister, Joan Kurilo of Portland, Oregon. She was predeceased by her son Martin D. Parsons of Albany, Oregon, and her former husband, M. Dean Parsons of Hoquiam, Washington.

Shirley had a deep love for art and found joy in beachcombing and whale watching along the Oregon coast. She was passionate about helping others, dedicating time to supporting abused children and farm workers. An animal lover at heart, she extended her kindness to all living beings. Shirley had a gifted green thumb and found great joy in growing flowers and orchids. Her love for gardening brought beauty to those around her. 

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Clark Hollis for his kindness and care, welcoming Shirley into his home for two years as her primary caregiver before she moved to River Grove. His friendship and support were a true blessing in her life. Our family also thanks all staff atRiver Grove Memory care for their daily care and compassion caring for Shirley.

May Shirley’s memory bring comfort to those who knew her.

Her final wishes were honored with cremation, and her ashes will be spread near Newport, Oregon at a later date. In accordance with her request, no memorial service or celebration of life will be held. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
