Richard Edward Dwyer, aged 75, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, in Eugene, Oregon, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 15, 1948, in Fargo, North Dakota, Richard was a man of many passions and talents who dedicated his life to family, community, and the pursuits that brought him joy. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Loretta; stepmother, Marion; and brother, Dennis.
Richard had a generous spirit and a deep commitment to mentoring youth in sports, leaving a positive impact on countless lives. A thrill-seeker at heart, he embraced fast cars, motorcycles, snow skiing, and skydiving-always packing his own parachute. His love for music was evident throughout his life as he played the guitar with enthusiasm. He also enjoyed the excitement of playing craps at the casino, where his vibrant personality often shone through.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Louise; two children, Danielle Mendoza (Christopher) and Nathan Dwyer (LeeAnn); five grandchildren-Cameron, Kealey, Olivia, Keagan, and Owen; and siblings Tom, Larry, Gary, Sharon Eckart (Lowell) and sister-in-law Patricia (Dennis' wife). His unwavering determination to achieve his goals and his zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported them during this time of loss and to Your Memory Care Team for their compassionate care of Richard.
A celebration of Richard's life will take place in the summer of 2025 at Andreason's chapel room for extended friends and family. He will be laid to rest at Masonic Cemetery. May his memory continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
