Nancy L Brown (Varney) died in October surrounded by her family at the age of 85.
Nancy’s life was filled with travel to interesting places, enjoying the nature of the Pacific Northwest, and her devotion and love for her family. She was a lifelong supporter of the arts. Nancy’s children remember her as a patient and supportive mother who always encouraged them to pursue their goals, even when those goals meant living on the other side of the world. Everyone who met Nancy quickly loved her. She was friendly with everyone, and her daughters strive to emulate her diplomacy skills, kindness, and ability to have a conversation with anyone. Nancy was known by her family and her daughters’ friends for making a delicious apple pancake on weekend mornings.
Some of Nancy’s happiest memories included, as a young girl, summers waterskiing in the Lake of the Ozarks. As an adult, she spent many summers and holidays at a mountain cabin in Oregon, and she loved hiking along river and mountain trails. In her later years, as an avid reader, Nancy could often be found sitting in a comfy chair with a book.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, daughters, and beloved grandchildren - and is missed so very much.
In lieu of a funeral, her family will be spreading her ashes near the mountains and rivers she loved. If you would like to remember Nancy, the family requests that memorials be sent to one of the following organizations:
