It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gerald Duane Schulz, age 82, of Junction City, Oregon. He passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2025.Jerry was born in Elgin, North Dakota, on November 20, 1942. He served proudly in the U.S. Army, where he became an expert marksman, showcasing his dedication and skill. After his time in service, Jerry married his first wife, Gloria, and together they moved to Eugene, Oregon, where they adopted their daughter, Brenda. Tragically, Gloria passed away due to complications from diabetes, and Jerry was left to raise their 3-year-old daughter as a single father. He was an exceptional and loving father, always providing for Brenda with care, patience, and humor.
Later, Jerry met Dorcas, and they found love that would last for over 50 years. They moved to Salem, Oregon, where Jerry joined Dorcas' family’s construction business. Starting as a real estate agent, Jerry quickly made his mark in the homebuilding industry. His expertise in scheduling and his attention to detail made him a respected figure, whether he was designing beautiful custom homes, small spec houses, or duplexes. Beyond his professional life, Jerry was known for his generous spirit. He loved serving others, always willing to lend a helping hand, give the shirt off his back, or offer a listening ear. His beautiful yard was a reflection of his desire to create spaces for others to enjoy. Jerry was also an accomplished cake decorator, winning several prizes alongside his daughter, Natalie, showcasing his creativity and talent. Jerry was a man of deep faith. He loved Jesus, and his life reflected that love through hiskindness, generosity, and unwavering belief in the healing power of God. With a great sense of humor and a quick wit, he was known for his dad jokes, always bringing joy to those around him. His family and friends will forever remember him for his warmth, laughter, and commitment to living a life rooted in faith and love.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lydia (Rivinius) Schulz, and his siblings Ray Schulz, Norman Schulz, Luella Mikes, and Harold Schulz. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Dorcas Schulz; daughters Natalie Eberth (Matt Eberth) and Brenda DePas; grandchildren Keelin DePas and Noah Schulz; and siblings Jim Schulz, Gary Schulz, Glen Schulz, Lucille Minson, and LuAnn Burggraaf.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 9, 2025, at Life Bible Church in Harrisburg,Oregon (time to be announced).
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
