David Swagerty

David Alan Swagerty, 64, of Eugene, Oregon passed away suddenly on November 24, 2024 from a ruptured aneurism. Dave was born on August 11, 1960 to the proud parents of Bill and Betty (Tolle) Swagerty. Known as “Cowboy" he loved playing baseball and football graduating from Willamette High School in 1978 voted “Best Dressed and Class Clown".

His love of Our Creator showed, and was instrumental, in giving his all to everything he did. He was a Master Farrier and Horse Trainer. Dave was also very well known as a Logger and considered himself a “Steward of Gods Forrest's". He combined his love of horses and logging to offer “Enviromentally Friendly Logging" with his two Shires alongside his Dad and Belgium. After retirement, he prided himself in helping others including caretaking full time one of our disabled military veterans Buz Ripple. He also loved fishing, hunting, and team roping. Most of all sharing with others about Jesus leading those in need to salvation. 

David is survived by his parents, daughter Kalen (Elijah) Davis of Albany, son Wade Swagerty of Terrebonne, two grandsons Simon and Andrew Davis of Albany. Two sisters: Kathleen (Gilbert) Shafer, and Carol Swagerty both of Eugene. Five nephews including Preston Roshau, One niece Billy Jane Rolston and her son Trystyn Gilmore, along with many other extended family members and countless others that he considered family by love. He held a special place in the hearts and minds of all that that knew him, and will be forever missed.

A celebration of Life for David will be held in his honor on Saturday, Dec 14th at 2:00 pm, It will be at Wildwood Chapel and Gathering Place located at 85780 McBeth Road (off of Lorane Hwy) in Eugene, Oregon. You can reach out to family for any additional information.
